Kids Sewing Competence Course : 8yr-16yr

Service Description

This sewing session is designed to help children and teens gain confidence to sew at home, See upcoming dates below. This is a 4.5 hour course from 10:30-3pm, including a break for lunch, Numbers are limited to 3 students per class. SUITABLE FOR: Children aged 8yrs to 16yrs who have a few sewing projects under their belt and some understanding of sewing patterns. Students will each choose their own commercial sewing pattern plus their fabric to cut and sew a project as independently as possible, with supervision. This is to encourage them to read instructions and problem solve, so they feel confident to use patterns and sew independently at home. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: You will learn to read a sewing pattern envelope, select a suitable fabric, lay out a pattern and cut fabric. You will learn how to follow instructions of a commercial sewing pattern. WHAT IS INCLUDED: A commercial sewing pattern and a choice of fabric. Choose from bags, toys or easy garments. Bring your own pattern and fabric if you prefer. Use of a Janome sewing machine is included plus cold drinks. WHAT TO BRING: lots of energy and lunch for half time!
